Position Overview
The Fleet and Workshop Attendant supports the maintenance and efficient operation of the company’s hire vehicles & trailers, engineering equipment and workshop facilities. This role ensures that the fleet is well-maintained, vehicles are prepared for use, and the workshop is clean, safe and organised. The Attendant may also assist the engineers, stock maintenance and logistical support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Duties:
- Conduct daily checks on vehicles/trailers (oil, fuel, water, tires, lights, etc).
- Clean and wash vehicles/trailers regularly.
- Ensure vehicles/trailers are ready for use.
- Report any damages, defects, or required repairs to supervisors.
- Assist with the movement and parking of vehicles within the yard or workshop.
- Support drivers with vehicle inspections, licensing and documentation when required.
Workshop Duties:
- Keep the workshop and tools clean, organised, and properly stored.
- Assist engineers with basic tasks under supervision.
- Collect and deliver spare parts, tools, or materials as instructed.
- Dispose of waste, scrap, and used materials safely and in line with regulations.
- Maintain records of workshop supplies and notify when stock is low.
General Duties:
- Follow all safety procedures and use PPE appropriately.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and schedules.
- Provide logistical support to the fleet and engineering team as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and workshop practices preferred but not essential, (technical/mechanical training an advantage).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Physically fit and able to handle workshop tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required.
Working Conditions:
- Workshop and outdoor environment.
- Exposure to noise, dust and vehicle fluids (PPE provided).
- May require occasional overtime, weekends, or after-hours work.
